Ramilaben Raysingbhai Gamit, born on June 1, 1969, in the Gamit community of Gujarat, is a renowned social worker dedicated to the upliftment of tribal communities. With formal education up to Standard X, she has achieved remarkable milestones, including transforming nine villages into open defecation-free areas by constructing over 700 sanitary units and raising awareness about sanitation.
She has empowered tribal women by establishing 162 self-help groups, enabling them to access government welfare schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.
Ramilaben has also been instrumental in supporting widows and led impactful community initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of her extraordinary contributions to education, healthcare, and sanitation, she was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2022.
